Important electrical install notes:

• To charge properly, the alternator must be grounded to the engine block. If mounting surfaces have paint or clear coat, grounding may be compromised and the unit may not charge.
• Many mounting brackets are powder coated, clear coated, painted, or plated; ensure proper ground continuity via a dedicated ground wire from the alternator housing to the engine block. The ground wire should match the charge wire size.

Practical operating guidance:

• A fully charged battery is at least 12.6V, not 12.0V. A weak or defective battery can cause premature charging system failure.
• Never disconnect the battery with the engine running, as this can cause voltage spikes that may damage the alternator.
